The Opportunity:

Phoebe Ministries (Phoebe), a non-profit, multi-facility organization in Eastern Pennsylvania specializing in healthcare, housing, and support services for senior adults, is seeking a talented executive to join their team as Chief Operating Officer. 

The Position: 

Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer, Scott Stevenson, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for directing the overall business and support service operations of Phoebe and accountable for the growth, operations, and financial results of the organization. He or she will lead and support Phoebe team members in both strategic and operational decision making to accomplish the key priorities and objectives of the organization. The COO will serve as a trusted thought partner and “second in command” to the CEO, enabling the COO to learn all aspects of the organization: its business, environment, and people, thereby positioning this leader as a potential successor to the CEO.

This represents an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished, mission-driven, collaborative leader who is passionate about improving healthcare and senior living services. 

The Ideal Candidate: 

• Bachelors degree is required.

• A minimum of five (5) years’ operational leadership experience managing multi-campus operations within an acute care, post-acute care, or long term care environment. Experience gained in a long-term care setting is preferred; must have exposure to long term care.

• The successful candidate will currently be a Chief Operating Officer, VP of Operations, or hold another senior executive-level position in a healthcare provider or senior living organization with reputation for excellence. The successful candidate must possess outstanding and hands-on operational leadership skills/experience. 

• Leadership experience overseeing multiple campuses is preferred.

Phoebe Ministries (Phoebe) was founded in 1903 and affiliated with the United Church of Christ. As a not-for profit organization, Phoebe has built a 120+ year legacy among the leading senior living providers in Pennsylvania. Based In Allentown, Phoebe serves over 14,000 seniors throughout seven different counties among their 17 locations that offer desirable amenities, benefits, and programs of larger, more urban senior communities but with the feel of a small town surrounded by local attractions and natural beauty. With over a century of experience, Phoebe’s communities and services provide the full continuum of senior care that includes independent living, rehabilitation, personal care, memory support — through four continuing-care retirement communities.

In addition to senior living services provided at Phoebe’s continued care retirement communities they also provide in home care, outpatient and short-term rehabilitation, pharmacy services, life care membership programs, an educational institute, affordable housing for seniors and telehealth program in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network.

The Location:

Founded in 1762 by William Allen, a successful businessman and the former mayor of Philadelphia, Allentown transformed from a small community of Dutch farmers into a marketing center for local farmers. Allentown today is the third largest city in Pennsylvania and is home to a diversified economy, with a population of 125,000, that supports urban manufacturing and entrepreneurship through start-up incubators. Downtown Allentown has seen a massive reinvigoration and development in its Neighborhood Improvement Zone, which attracts new businesses, luxury living spaces, developers, energy, and visitors into Allentown.
