Eastern Maine Medical Center is seeking an innovating leader as their Vice President of Operations and Provider Services within beautiful Bangor, Maine! 


The Position

  • The Vice President of Medical Group Operations and Patient Services will be responsible for planning and managing the fiscal, equipment, human, and material resources and is accountable for the development of action plans to ensure that the organization’s implemented mission and annual goals.  
  • The VP will foster effective collaboration between physicians, practice leadership, medical group leaders, practice managers and directors and will evaluate the physician practice operations. 
  • Seeking an innovative leader to develop and foster effective collaboration with staff, leaders, and executive leaders to ensure an integrated approach to providing services and fulfilling the organization’s long-term implemented goals and objectives. 
  • The VP provides leadership and management through any necessary administrative interfaces and will communicate with key stakeholders with respect to provision of care, marketplace needs, cost management, and customer-focused services.  
  • Ideal candidates will have a strong knowledge of organizational structure and experience leading large teams within complex, heavily matrixed organizations. Additionally, the VP will partner directly with the Physician Director as a leadership dyad and must have experience effectively managing relationships with providers. 
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive management experience in a large medical group.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of executive leadership
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field from an accredited institution
  • Masters or higher-level education in business, healthcare, or another relevant field preferred. Willingness to pursue further education in the absence of master’s or higher.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience directly managing provider salaries, incentive programs, quality and patient experience scores, and contracting.

  • Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC), a member of Northern Light Health (NLH), is a 411-bed tertiary care facility and level II trauma center. With 600 employed providers and 50 practice group leaders, EMMC and its physicians provide over ¾ of the primary care services in the Bangor area as well as numerous specialty and intensive services.
  • For more than 15 years, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center has been a leader in robotic surgery. In 2012, the medical center was designated the nation's first general and bariatric surgery robotic epicenter by Intuitive Surgical, the sole maker of the daVinci surgical robot.
