Summary

Chief Information Officer

Signature Healthcare

Brockton, MA

Signature Healthcare (SHC), an independent, nonprofit, community-based health system, is seeking a dynamic and innovative IT leader to join the organization as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to provide leadership for Signature Healthcare’s Information Services and Telecommunications teams and to serve as a key leader within the health system.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CIO will play a critical role in managing the technology infrastructure and systems that support the organization's clinical, financial, and administrative operations. The CIO will oversee the strategic direction, implementation, and maintenance of information technology (IT) systems and ensuring that they align with the organization's goals and regulatory requirements. The CIO’s leadership will be pivotal in driving innovation, optimizing processes, and enhancing the quality of patient care through the effective use of technology.

In Feb ‘23, a devastating 10-alarm electrical fire shut down Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital and destroyed much of the hospital’s electrical wiring. The hospital has been shut down since that time with plans to reopen in summer of ‘24. As a result of the shutdown, SHC opened three new urgent care centers in Brockton and East Bridgewater. These urgent care centers will remain open after the hospital reopens. A major focus for the new CIO and his/her team in the first year will be to support the phased reopening of the Hospital, including supporting the training of staff on IT systems. SHC is also moving a number of providers to the East Bridgewater location – the CIO and IT team will support this effort.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities for the CIO include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish professional and personal credibility, trust, and integrity with all key stakeholders and leaders; be viewed as a visible, collaborative, knowledgeable team player who is committed to the organization’s mission and direction and can challenge and be challenged with the organization’s best interests at the forefront.
  • Provide leadership for the development and adoption of a formalized IT strategic plan which is aligned with and supportive of the Signature Healthcare strategic plan.
  • Provide executive sponsorship to upcoming and ongoing MEDITECH upgrades and ensure that power of MEDITECH is being optimized and effectively leveraged across the health system.
  • In partnership with the CHRO and Human Resources team, provide executive sponsorship to the UKG (HRIS software) implementation, which is expected to go live in June 2024.
  • Assess and make recommendations on the overall improvement of the IT department to ensure that IT can effectively support the SHC strategic, clinical, and financial goals, as well as streamline support, reduce costs, and increase interoperability in an efficient and responsive manner.
  • Cultivate a culture that emphasizes excellent customer service and focuses on support, customer service and optimization.
  • Serve as a liaison between Information Technology (IT) and the senior leadership team to ensure that SHC is effectively harnessing innovation and digital health transformation to fulfill SHC’s strategic goals.
  • Conduct an IT portfolio rationalization process/assessment to determine which applications SHC must maintain to support business and healthcare initiatives.
  • In collaboration with the IT Steering Committee, provide executive sponsorship for the development of a roadmap to optimize SHC’s cyber security program and establish formal Cyber Security services to further safeguard the access and use of SHC information assets.

Signature Healthcare (SHC) is an independent, non-profit, community-based healthcare system based in Brockton, Massachusetts. Located approximately 15-20 miles south of greater Boston, and 45 miles north of Providence, Signature Healthcare is the major nonprofit health system dedicated to providing accessible, safe, high quality, high value healthcare services to the city of Brockton and surrounding cities and towns.
