The Position

  • Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will provide professional leadership and support all direct reports across a variety of departments with administration of policies, business rules and procedures, and overall long-term fiscal health and stability of CHCB.  
  • The CFO will play a key role on the executive management team, providing financial leadership to promote optimal performance within the organization and to ensure growth objectives are achieved. 
  • The CFO will partner closely with the Chief Executive Officer in helping to drive culture, engage with the physician stakeholders, and deliver the highest surgical quality while helping maintain excellent financial management. Additionally, the CFO must be mission driven, aligning with other Executive Team members to ensure the necessary paths are taken to see that implemented visions are reached. 
  • Seeking an innovative leader with a strong knowledge of strategic planning, organizational skills, knowledge of accounting software packages, and possesses strong organizational and communication skills. 
  • The CFO will need to hold the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships, be approachable, and be transparent with both staff members and other executive leadership members to ensure a positive and productive work environment.  
  • Ideal candidates will bring significant knowledge in revenue cycle management, as well as a strong financial background, preferably within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting.
  • Advanced degree such as MBA and/or MPA is required. 

The Organization

  • Community Health Centers of Burlington (CHCB) was founded in 1971 as the Peoples Free Clinic and provided a “new kind of healthcare” to its community. While the organization has grown, it’s mission remains that same as CHCB strives to prioritize the needs of their community first. 
  • CHCB was awarded the federal status of a Healthcare for the Homeless Program in 1989 and remains the only organization in the state of Vermont with this designation. CHCB ensures free access to healthcare for all individuals and families currently experiencing homelessness and was designated Vermont’s second Federally Qualified Health Center. 
  • CHCB has since opened the Pearl Street Youth Health Center in 2004 that is Vermont’s only designated site for homeless and at-risk youth. CHCB is also home to the Safe Harbor Health Center, a two-room exam facility offering preventative care, dental care, and counseling services. Additionally, CHCB’s Housing First Program also offers a supportive housing program for both homeless and chronic medical condition patients to ensure they have the adequate resources.
