Cherokee Nation Health Services has a history-making opportunity for a physician leader to run system-wide healthcare initiatives and residency program as the Executive Director of Health Services

The Position
  • The Executive Director of Health Services serves as the senior executive leader of the nation’s largest tribal healthcare system, overseeing eight health centers, an acute care hospital, residency program and 650 health providers
  • The Executive Director of Health Services drives rural health development, business strategy, operations improvement and overall growth for the system
  • Top goals for the Executive Director include physician recruitment, partnership with medical school residency program, community health outreach, leveraging joint ventures and implementing processes to accommodate high volumes
  • Reporting to the Principle Chief, the Executive Director must demonstrate the ability to deliver financial acumen, administrative leadership, professional mentorship and attain short and long-term organizational goals
  • Requires relevant senior-level leadership experience in healthcare, preferably a hospital system or provider network
  • Licensed physician highly preferred; minimum Master's degree required

The Organization
  • Cherokee Nation Health Services is the nation’s largest tribal healthcare system, servicing nearly 25,000 patients in Oklahoma and surrounding areas
  • In 2016, Cherokee Nation and Indian Health Service (IHS) agreed to a Joint Venture Construction Program to construct, staff, operate and maintain a new health facility to provide services to American Indian and Alaska Native peoples
  • Cherokee Nation maintains a mission to ensure health services are accessible within 30 minutes for any native person needing healthcare; with this in mind, the organization has eight health centers and just added a 469,000 square foot ambulatory care facility
