Summary

Division Head, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

 

Position: 

The new Division Head serves a critical leadership role in growing, developing, and maintaining programs within the division. There is significant opportunity for immediate growth of investigator-initiated research within the division. One strength of the division currently is its participation in multi-center clinical trials, however, broadening the portfolio of research will better reflect the needs of the cancer population in the region and create destination programs for innovative cancer research. In addition, there is the opportunity and expectation to increase collaboration with the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern (ranked 6th in the country), Northwestern Medicine Division of Hematology and Oncology, and the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute. The division consists of more than 30 physicians and scientists, including world-renowned, board-certified hematologists and oncologists, advanced pediatric nurses, pediatric dieticians, imaging specialists, social workers, and psychologists.

 

Organization: 

The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is a world-class, research intensive, pediatric health center affiliated with the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Lurie Children’s conducts more pediatric research than any other children’s hospital in the region and is nationally ranked in 10 pediatric specialties. Providing outpatient care at 13 locations, it also has 5 primary care location throughout the Chicagoland area and maintains partnerships with 3 partner hospitals in the region. Additionally, Prentice Women’s Hospital at Northwestern Memorial Hospital is the largest birthing center in the region and is a partner hospital with Lurie Children's.

 

Qualifications: 

The Ideal Candidate will be a MD/DO who is a visionary and strategic leader with knowledge and experience in a comprehensive research university setting. The candidate will have a proven record as a problem solver and the ability to implement innovative solutions to contemporary challenges. The new Division Head will have demonstrated leadership in clinical care, development of research, and/or administration and strong clinical expertise, along with a proven track record of funded research, within the field of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Neuro-Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant. Must have or be able to obtain an unrestricted Illinois medical license.
