Chief Medical Officer

The Opportunity:

DMC Primary Care, a leading independent family medicine practice with 70+ providers and eight locations serving the region, announces an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished and respected physician executive to serve as Chief Medical Officer.

The Position: 

The CMO has a direct and significant impact on patient care processes, as well as on the efficient and effective operations of the practice, and thus on the success and reputation of DMC Primary Care. The CMO is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and reports directly to the Shareholder Board President. The CMO will have interactions with the Practice Governance and Shareholder Board at the direction of the Board President. May attend Board and Medical Executive Committee meetings as necessary and/or requested. The CMO does not have any direct authority over any Shareholder Board member. Any administrative functions embodied in this position description is carried out under the direction of the Board President and the full Shareholder Board. The CMO does not have authority to direct any provider disciplinary measures independently, but may make recommendations to the Board President and, if so directed, to the Medical Executive Committee.

The CMO inspires trust and promotes collegial dialogue and collaborates in planning and problem solving in an environment that values diversity and enables all colleagues to develop their talents and do their best work. The CMO’s responsibilities include participating in provider recruitment and on-boarding, promoting quality patient care, fostering quality improvement initiatives, monitoring the delivery of accepted standards of care and advancing practice goals around the patient experience. This is an opportunity to make a difference in patient care delivery and experience across the organization while creating the structure required to mitigate risk, ensure the highest levels of quality of care.

The Ideal Candidate: 

• A minimum of 10 years of clinical experience as a practicing primary care physician in an office setting with an exemplary record, as well as experience in a physician executive leadership role (such as a Chief Medical Officer, Chief Quality Officer, Associate Chief Medical Officer, Ambulatory Care Medical Director, or equivalent.)
• Physician, M.D., D.O. 
• Board Certification in Family Medicine highly preferred. 
• Eligible for medical licensure in the State of New Hampshire. 
• Current DEA license and current BLS certification. 
• AAPL Certification or equivalent physician leadership training and certification preferred. 

The Organization:

DMC Primary Care is the oldest and largest family practice group in New Hampshire. Established in 1964 as Derry Medical Center, the staunchly independent and family-oriented physician group has grown to 70+ primary care providers who operate independently of any particular hospital or insurance company, ensuring high quality, accessible primary care for each patient. DMC Primary Care is physician-owned and governed by a Board of Directors made up of DMC Shareholders. All DMC Primary Care physicians are specialists in Family Medicine to provide continuing and comprehensive medical care for newborns, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.

What has historically operated as a small shareholder business has grown significantly, averaging an annual 10-12% growth rate per year for the past six years. During that period, the growth of DMC Primary Care has resulted in the expansion from three offices to eight locations, exclusively through organic growth. DMC Primary Care has made significant investments in facilities, technology, operational infrastructure, and ancillary services to ensure the highest level of quality care and best patient experience. DMC is in the process of planning for its newest office location in Dover, NH, which is scheduled to open within the next two years.

Picturesque lakes, such as Lake Winnipesaukee and Pawtuckaway Lake, are perfect for boating, fishing, and swimming during the summer months. The region also offers numerous hiking trails, including the famous Monadnock and Lafayette Mountain ranges, which attract outdoor enthusiasts year-round.
