Chief Nursing Officer

The Opportunity:

REHAB Hospital of the Pacific (REHAB) is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to provide leadership and direction for the efficient operation of the hospital’s nursing, therapy and clinical support service lines. This is an excellent opportunity for a nursing executive to serve as a member of an executive leadership team that is high-performing/quality-focused and has a reputation for being Hawaii's only premier, acute-care rehabilitation hospital dedicated to providing high-quality, comprehensive and innovative inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. 

The Position: 

The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will serve as REHAB’s Nurse Executive and is a key decision-making member of the executive leadership team while providing effective management of assigned staff and departments. 

Reporting to the President/CEO, this executive will: 

  • Advise the President/Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Officer and other members of leadership as appropriate on organization-wide, patient care programs and assesses nursing, therapy and clinical support services against both the annual budget and REHAB Hospital’s strategic plan.
  • Engage the Board, Medical Executive and Quality Improvement Committees around issues, trends and changes in patient care and patient outcomes.
  • Assist with long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with REHAB Hospital’s strategic plan.
  • Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives and hospital operations.
  • Provide direct oversight and support for the managers and directors of Nursing, Therapy and Clinical Support.

The Ideal Candidate: 

The ideal candidate will have seven (7) or more years of relevant progressive leadership experience in an acute-care and/or physical rehabilitation hospital, as well as working knowledge of rehabilitation services and applicable regulatory regulation. S/he will be required to have a current State of Hawaii RN licensure and current BLS certification. A Rehabilitation Registered Nurse Certification (CRRN) or current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification are strongly preferred, as is a Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business Administration or Health-Related field (or equivalent education and experience in healthcare). Additionally, the CNO will have strong planning, financial and analytical skills to effectively evaluate and lead projects of major impact to the organization.
