Key System-Level Nursing Leadership Opportunity over Multiple Units in Scenic Area of Maine 

The Position

  • The Director of Emergency Services provides system-wide strategic and administrative leadership for Central Maine Healthcare’s Emergency Departments, Clinical Observation unit, Connect transfer center, and Life Flight. This leader will have matrix reporting structure at the Critical Access hospitals with nursing leadership.
  • Direct oversight includes 40 total beds and approximately 90 FTEs across departments.
  • Seeking a collaborative leader to partner across service lines and prioritize employee recruitment, retention, education, and mentoring.
  • Ensure the provision of exceptional emergency care and optimal patient/family outcomes through evidence-based best practices, continual performance and process improvement, and a strong focus on patient experience. 
  • Must bring 5+ years of progressive leadership experience related to Emergency Services.
  • Active Registered Nursing license and a Master’s degree (or must be actively pursuing) required. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.

  • Central Maine Healthcare (CMH) is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western, and mid-coast Maine. CMH’s hospital facilities include Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital, and Rumford Hospital.   • Central Maine Healthcare operates the largest emergency room in the area and is one of three designated trauma centers in Maine. CMMC sees approximately 35,000 annual ED visits.

  • Lewiston is the second largest city in the state of Maine, known for playing host to annual festivals that include Liberty Festival, The Great Falls Balloon Festival, and the Emerge Film Festival.
