Chief Medical Officer
The Chief Medical Officer serves as the AltaMed Health Network’s Medical Services Committee Chairperson to work in tandem with actively participating contracted providers to develop strategies which are committed to AltaMed Health Network’s vision and mission, by demonstrating enthusiastic support of value-based, effective, efficient, patient-centered care across the AHN delivery system continuum. The position reports to the AHN President & CEO and has direct oversight of the AHN medical services managed care programs. The CMO is a key member of the organization’s Medical Services Division, engaged in the administration and supervision of medical management processes by focusing on the quality, availability, and timeliness of patient care and services, and by providing oversight, expertise, and leadership to ensure the delivery of affordable quality healthcare services. Functional areas of oversight include utilization management, case management, clinical and service quality programs, and credentialing.
AltaMed Health Network, Inc. (AHN) is a licensed Restricted Knox-Keene (RKK) Health Plan Organization designed to provide Medi-Cal managed care services to its member enrollees. As of January 1, 2020, AHN took on institutional risk for the L.A. Care Health Plan’s Med-Cal members currently serviced by AltaMed Health Services and OmniCare Medical Group. Governed by a Board of Directors, the AHN mission is to improve the lives of Californians by providing access to qualified providers in the service area most convenient to our members. The goal is to deliver efficient, evidence-based medical care through a patient-centric care delivery model.
AltaMed seeks an experienced physician leader who possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills with an approachable and transparent leadership style and who clearly understands that patient care is the highest priority. Candidates must have or be able to obtain an active unrestrictive CA license to practice medicine by the Medical Board of California and 10 years of managed care experience. Experience with Restricted Knox-Keene organizations is preferred.
