Summary

Yale Health is seeking a new Chief Medical Officer to join their State-of-the-Art facility on the beautiful campus in New Haven, CT.  


The Position

  • The Associate Chief Medical Officer will provide clinical, strategic, and management leadership for Yale Health's Internal Medicine and Primary Care departments.
  • Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this leader will oversee a team of two Internal Medicine Associate Chiefs, Chief of Pediatrics, Chief of OB/GYN, and Chief of Student Health.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the welfare of Yale Health patients and the department. Provide care for a panel of patients and consultation or backup for team and departmental colleagues; demonstrate flexibility to meet changing clinical demands. Regularly attend and participate in department meetings and committee assignments; Meet regularly with the Department Chief and Manager.
  • Key goals and objectives of this leader include, improving/standardizing the credentialing process, implement scheduling improvements, directing and overseeing educational activities and working to improve overall patient outcomes.
  • Responsible for both clinical and administrative duties. Internal medicine primary care clinical with 20%-time commitment. Administrative clinical leadership of the internal medicine primary care practice with an 80% time commitment.
  • Ideal candidates will be strong, visible, collaborative leaders. Must be capable of leading with a positive attitude and be willing to mentor/coach staff. Demonstrated Clinical Operations or Practice Management leadership experience. Previous Health Plan/Insurance/Payor and Utilization Management experience is preferred. 

Requirements

  • MD or DO required.
  • Holds or is eligible to hold a CT Medical License, Holds or is eligible to hold a CT Controlled Substance Registration, Federal DEA Registration, Board Certification/board eligible, Qualifies for hospital and faculty appointments.
  • Board certification or board eligible in Internal or Family Medicine preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of administrative and leadership experience preferably in a healthcare system such as an HMO or ACO or a University setting.
