The Position

  • Seeking a visionary and operationally-strong leader to serve as Associate Director of Administration for the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine.
  • The Associate Director reports to the department’s Vice Chair of Finance & Administration. As a member of the department’s executive leadership team, the Associate Director is a strategic partner within and across units to develop and implement Internal Medicine’s priorities. 
  • Provides high-level oversight, including the development of staffing capacity models, for a team of approximately 400 FTEs. Direct management of six Operations Managers, who function as Division Administrators for the eleven academic departmental sections.
  • The Associate Director will ensure process standardization to support the delivery of finance and administrative outcomes, oversee the facilities management and optimization function, certify adherence to all regulatory and contractual requirements, and monitor external and internal factors influencing the unit’s mission and goals.
  • Ideal leaders will have demonstrated success in complex strategic planning, as well as management and mentorship of teams to influence outcomes and drive mission-critical results.
  • Must bring 8+ years of progressively responsible experience, with 4+ years in a leadership role and an academic background required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
