Vice Chancellor of Research
The Vice Chancellor of Research (VCR) will facilitate research scholarship and extramural funding opportunities involving clinicians, research faculty, clinical staff and research administrators across disciplines and through the University of Nebraska system. The VCR will mentor researchers on strategies for developing meaningful pathways of scientific inquiry and in developing competitive grant applications to obtain research funding.
Reporting to the Chancellor, the VCR oversees research activities and development at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). The VCR will work in concert with the other UNMC leadership (Vice Chancellors, Deans and Directors) toward the institutional goal of enhanced research activities among the faculty, staff and students to further stimulate growth in research funding.
The Ideal Candidate
The Vice Chancellor of Research must be a compelling leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and possess the reputation, influence and leadership gravitas to drive change in an era of tectonic changes in healthcare and biomedical research:
- Experience developing, implementing and improving a research-focused strategic vision for a health care organization and/or an academic institution
- Experience in fostering and growing clinical research collaborations across multiple disciplines or institutions
- MD, DO, PhD, MD/PhD or DO/PhD
