Chief of Pediatric Radiology

 

We are accepting applications and nominations for Chief of Pediatric Radiology, UT Health San Antonio. The Chief of Pediatric Radiology is the clinical, operational, and academic leader of the Pediatric Radiology Divisional faculty and staff appointed by, and reports to the Stewart R Reuter Distinguished Chair in Radiology.

 

UT Health San Antonio, one of six health institutions in The University of Texas System, is the major source of health professions education and life sciences research in South Texas and is a major center for patient care in South Texas. UT Health San Antonio is a comprehensive academic health center with more than 3,250 students enrolled in five schools: the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Dentistry, the School of Nursing, and the School of Health Professions. The University also offers cooperative programs in public health with UT Health Houston and in pharmacy with The University of Texas at Austin. In addition, collaborations exist between The University of Texas at San Antonio through the San Antonio Life Sciences Institute and a biomedical engineering degree program. 

 

UT Health San Antonio’s pediatric radiology section provides comprehensive imaging services for the children of San Antonio. The patient population includes inpatients at the newly built state of the art Sky Tower of the University Health System, 58-bed level IV neonatal ICU at the university hospital, pediatric trauma (only level II trauma center in South Texas), pediatric and cardiac ICU. The Pediatric Radiologists also provide imaging services for the outpatient clinics including Robert B. Green Campus in downtown, Express-Med Clinic, Medical Arts & Research Center (MARC) in the South Texas Medical Center, and UT Health Hill Country. We offer all dimensions of imaging modalities including radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear imaging services. 

 

The Division Chief leads collaborative efforts to ensure that they provide the highest quality pediatric care in a professional, cost-effective manner. The Chief works with the Department Chair to ensure that faculty are engaged in scholarly activity that includes provision of clinical training and mentorship to residents and medical students. The Chief, Pediatric Radiology promotes a culture of collaboration amongst the Divisional faculty that promotes clinical excellence, innovation, and scientific discovery.

  

The Division Chief is an advocate for and representative of the Pediatric Radiology Divisional faculty in Departmental and Hospital leadership activities. The Chief, Pediatric Radiology will embody UT Health San Antonio’s core values in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.

 

Education and Certifications:

 

  • MD, DO or MD/PhD with a track record of leadership roles in an academic institution
  • Board certification by the American Board of Radiology and fellowship training in Pediatric Radiology
  • Must have or be able to obtain an unrestricted Texas medical license, DEA and Texas DPS certificates.
  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting faculty and staff is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring faculty
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and build innovative programs
  • An understanding of the general clinical disciplines within Pediatric Radiology
