Chief Nursing Officer


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working in partnership with the members of the senior leadership team, the Vice President for Patient Care, Chief Nursing Officer will have responsibility for nursing practice and nursing care throughout Winchester Hospital and will set strategy and develop meaningful objectives. 

The CNO is leaders from the governing board, management and medical staff in the development of the organization’s strategic planning and decision-making processes. 

The CNO will exercise leadership and management responsibility over all functions within nursing services, ensuring effective and efficient services that are designed to meet the needs of patients, physicians, the public and staff.

Oversight of the CNO will include inpatient nursing, emergency services, surgical services, women’s and children’s services, float pool, staffing office, nursing informatics, nursing staff development, Center for Healthy Living, laboratory services, radiology, Breast Care Center, pharmacy, cardiology, respiratory, Sleep Laboratory, Rehabilitation Services, Hyperbarics and Wound Healing Center, Oncology, Environmental Services, Food and Nutrition Services and pastoral services.   

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding nurse executive who wants to build professional and personal credibility and trust with the nursing staff, medical staff, Executive team, and all other employees of Winchester Hospital.


Our ideal candidate will specifically possess:

  • Current license to practice professional nursing from Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing 
  • A master’s degree in nursing or closely related field on hire; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. 
  • Membership in a professional and leadership organization or Certification in nursing leadership or clinical specialty strongly preferred 
  • Eight years of demonstrated successful administrative, management, and leadership experience in a hospital environment of similar size and complexity.  
  • Ideal experience would be as a CNO or ACNO within a complex community hospital that is part of a larger health system. 


Winchester Hospital 

Winchester Hospital has 178 beds and serves the health care needs of communities in northwest suburban Boston. The hospital also has outpatient centers in Medford, Reading, Wilmington, and Woburn. Winchester Hospital has teaching affiliations with Tufts Medical Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Cambridge Health Alliance.

Beth Israel Lahey Health 

Beginning March 2019, BILH officially embarked on a journey to transform healthcare in Massachusetts. Formed through the merger of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Lahey Health, New England Baptist Hospital, Mount Auburn Hospital, and Anna Jaques Hospital, BILH is now the second largest health system in Massachusetts.
