Yavapai Regional Medical Center Welcomes New Director of Population Health

July 12, 2019

Experienced leader will direct population health initiatives for North Central Arizona Accountable Care.

On July 1, Lori Pearlmutter joined Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC) as the Director of Population Health for North Central Arizona Accountable Care (NCAAC).

B.E. Smith Executive Search Director Stephanie Parten led the search, seeking candidates who were well-versed in regulatory readiness and data reporting, and who could establish strong relationships with physicians.

YRMC selected Ms. Pearlmutter, who has worked for three decades in healthcare leadership, most recently as the Quality Manager for a large Federally Qualified Health Center in the region. She is excited about the opportunity to improve the health of her community in Northern Arizona.

“I feel so fortunate to be part of this ACO and YRMC’s health system, which has already done an incredible job in providing quality care,” she said. “The knowledge and mission of the team is inspiring and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with them.”

Ms. Pearlmutter has a Master in Public Health from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Az., and a BS in Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University. She is certified in Health Care Quality (CPHQ) through the National Association of HealthCare Quality and received a certification through the National Committee on Quality Assurance as a patient centered medical home content expert (PCMH-CCE).

Dr. Robert Thompson, Executive Medical Director for YRMC, was satisfied with the partnership with B.E. Smith and the process of filling this key role.

“The recruitment of a Director of Population Health is both strategically and operationally important for Yavapai Regional Medical Center,” he said. “Lori Pearlmutter’s credentials and experience stood out and my team is excited for her to start. I am confident the process, led by Stephanie Parten, was a major part of our success in hiring her."

YRMC is the largest not-for-profit healthcare provider in north-central Arizona with two acute care hospitals, primary and specialty care clinics, outpatient health and wellness centers, cardiac diagnostic centers, and outpatient medical imaging services that serve a geographic area of 5,500 square miles.

NCAAC was established in 2015 as a Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Accountable Care Organization and includes YRMC, Summit Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona, and many primary care and specialty physician practices throughout the region.

The MSSP and the ACO were developed to improve quality of care fostering better health of populations. Hospitals and providers work together to coordinate evidence-based care and are evaluated on measures such as:

  • Reduced hospitalizations
  • Improved outcomes for chronic conditions
  • Use of preventative services
