Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters Retains B.E. Smith in Search for Nursing Director

Join a growing Mental Health Services team located in Norfolk, Va., as the first Director of Nursing for Behavioral Health and Psychiatric Services.

As Director of Nursing over Behavioral Health and Psychiatric Services, you will have overall responsibility for daily planning, work scheduling, managing designated service personnel, and coordinating and directing the workflow and functions of the Mental Health acute inpatient unit for Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters.

Reporting to the Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer and to the Vice President for Mental Health Services, you will work to facilitate collaborative partnerships with Mental Health staff to ensure service line development, management, and growth, provide leadership and direction for acute inpatient mental health units, and are accountable for the overall operation, direction and delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients on a twenty-four hour basis.

Qualifications:

  • MSN required; may be substituted with a Master’s in Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field, provided the candidate also possesses a BSN (Candidates currently enrolled in a Master’s program will be considered; individual must complete program within one year).
  • Minimum of five years of progressive mental healthcare leadership experience.
  • Licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Strong background in clinical research and regulatory compliance necessary.
  • Previous experience in managing research grants and clinical contracts.
