After conducting a nationwide executive search led by healthcare leadership solutions firm B. E. Smith, Shodair Children’s Hospital in Helena, Mont., has hired Craig Aasved as the new chief executive officer. An accomplished healthcare leader with 30 years of experience, Aasved will assume his new duties at Shodair Children’s Hospital on December 7.
“Craig brings an impressive track record in healthcare leadership with a dedicated focus on delivering quality patient care and expertise in boosting profitability, streamlining operations and building highly engaged teams,” said Rita Gowen, chairman of the board of Shodair Children’s Hospital. “The Board looks forward to working with Craig to continue Shodair’s mission of providing superior care for Montana’s children and adolescents.”
Aasved succeeds Jack Casey who will retire, capping a healthcare career that spans almost five decades. “Craig is a Montana native and brings valuable insight and direct leadership experience in Montana’s dynamic healthcare market,” said Casey. “I’m pleased to be transferring leadership over to an executive with his background. I know his leadership will greatly benefit Shodair as well as the community.”
Prior to joining Shodair Children’s Hospital, Aasved held leadership roles as chief operating officer and regional chief management services officer for Providence Health and Services’ Western Montana Region in Missoula, Mont. Previously, he served as chief executive officer for several hospitals managed by Quorum Health Resources including North Valley Hospital in Whitefish, Mont., Wheatland Memorial Hospital in Harlowton, Mont., and Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyo. “It is a privilege to join Shodair Children’s Hospital and to lead the state’s premier provider and advocate for children and adolescent care. I look forward to partnering with physicians and team members in contributing to the hospital’s mission and continuing the great care provided by the staff,” said Aasved.
“Shodair Children’s Hospital was looking for a dynamic hospital CEO with a high sense of integrity and relational skills,” said Mark Madden, senior vice president of senior executive search for B. E. Smith. “Craig’s collaborative leadership style and ability to build strong relationships with local and state legislators, as well as the community, made him the perfect match.”
