St. Peter’s Hospital Hires New President of St. Peter’s Medical Group

Experienced and Collaborative Executive Selected to Lead the Hospital’s Employed Medical Group

St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, Montana, has hired Dr. John Cassani as President of St. Peter’s Medical Group. Dr. Cassani is a senior healthcare executive with more than 35 years of progressive healthcare experience, bringing strong operational expertise and a dedicated focus to patient-centered care. His successful track record in physician recruitment and retention, as well as his commitment to mentoring and coaching will be invaluable to the medical group and hospital.

Prior to accepting the President position at St. Peter’s Medical Group, Dr. Cassani served as President of St. Vincent Physician Enterprise, part of St. Vincent Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. In this role he provided leadership for more than 255 providers across 13 specialties. Previously, he served as President of CHRISTUS St. Vincent Medical Group, part of CHRISTUS St. Vincent in Sante Fe, New Mexico. He also held the role of Medical Director, Ambulatory Services at Renown Health in Reno, Nevada.

Dr. Cassani completed his Doctor of Osteopathy at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma and his rotating internship with Phoenix General Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nevada in Reno, and a Bachelor of Science in Physiology form the University of California in Davis. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice and is an active member of the American Association for Physician Leadership, The American Osteopathic Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.

St. Peter’s is a system of healthcare services including a 123-bed acute care hospital, physicians clinics, cancer treatment center, urgent care clinics, home health and hospice care, dialysis center, and ambulance services. The system serves the Helena region and several counties in southwest Montana, with a combined population of approximately 97,000 residents.
