As part of a nation-wide search, B.S. Smith led the recruitment and successful placement of Washington Permanente Medical Group’s President and CEO. The organization selected Dr. Paul Minardi, a longtime Permanente Medical Group leader to operate as the strategic head and senior physician executive.

Dr. Minardi has spent his entire career working for Kaiser Permanente (KP) and Permanente Medicine. He joins Washington Permanente Medical Group (WPMG) from Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SPMG) where he served as Regional Medical Director for SPMG and Executive Vice President of Strategy and Finance for The Permanente Federation.  

Having spent his career as a practicing family practice physician and subsequently moved into leadership roles where he led operations for a number of growth initiatives in Southern California, Dr. Minardi’s commitment to Kaiser Permanente’s mission, values, and attitudes toward the delivery of care strongly align with his personal mission and values.

Dr. Minardi will serve as the President and CEO of more than 1,400 clinicians within WPMG, partnering with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan executives, both regionally and nationwide, to outline goals and calibrate priorities in delivering patient experience, quality, and affordability of care. 

Based in Seattle, Washington, WPMG delivers high-quality and affordable healthcare to more than 400,000 members. Over the next decade, Kaiser Permanente plans to invest heavily to expand and upgrade its facilities, which will include building several new Washington submarket Specialty Medical Centers.
