Chair of Surgery
The new Department Chair must be a compelling and innovative leader and talented surgeon whose passion for the educational, clinical, and research missions energize the faculty, staff, and learners, focusing their efforts on a strategic vision of excellence in all missions.
Reporting to the new Executive Vice President for Health Affairs and Dean (EVP/Dean) of Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), Dr. Adrian Tyndall, the new Chair of the Department of Surgery and Chief of Service for MSM Surgical Services at Grady Health Care will serve as the Surgeon in Chief for MSM and will partner with the EVP/Dean in articulating, directing and executing on the clinical vision, mission, and strategies for the Morehouse School of Medicine.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate must be collaborative and able to lead an efficient and effective surgery program with the highest standards of clinical outcomes in a complex and dynamic environment. Successful Chair candidates will be recognized as outstanding clinically active leaders in surgery and have an excellent track record in clinical care, research and teaching within a nationally recognized surgical program, including:
- M.D. degree or equivalent foreign degree,
- Current board certification in General Surgery and/or a related surgical subspecialty area; and
- An appropriate record of scholarship, teaching, and service to meet the requirements for Full Professor at MSM.
