The Position

  • The Director of Clinical Emergency Department (ED) will be responsible for the development, planning, and operational administrative management throughout the Emergency Department for Kern Medical.  
  • Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Director of Clinical ED will strive to ensure that implemented quality and patient safety initiatives are followed to provide high-quality patient care, as well as align with local, state, and federal compliance regulations. 
  • Serving as the chairperson for nursing committees, the Director will closely monitor ongoing nursing operations and metrics while reporting on inter-departmental initiatives to executive leadership as they pertain to both short-and-long-term goals that are currently implemented.  
  • This leader will implement and facilitate inter-departmental operating systems while encouraging strong communication and collaboration to increase employee engagement while simultaneously decreasing employee retention rates.  
  • Seeking an engaged leader who will develop and foster positive working relationships with nursing staff and will be active in the training and education initiatives throughout the department by providing hands-on leadership and mentorship to help staff members achieve desired development and leadership opportunities.  
  • The Director will be responsible for managing the departmental operating budget and will strive to maintain fiscal control while seeking ways to optimize financial stability, resources, and productivity. 
  • Candidates will ideally bring extensive knowledge pertaining to patient safety, patient satisfaction, modern principles, and best nursing and clinical based practices. Additionally, candidates must be equipped to handle budget analysis, reporting, and effective communication.  

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred. 
  • Active RN license is required. 
  • Active BLS certification is required. 
  • Minimum of 6+ years of nursing experience within a related setting is required; 3+ years of managerial experience is highly preferred.
