The Opportunity:

  • Catholic Health announces an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished and respected physician executive to serve as the Chief Medical Officer for the Physician Enterprise. 


  • Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of Catholic Health (CH), the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Physician Enterprise will lead and direct more than 175+ practicing clinicians, including all Trinity specialty practices across CH as well as those specialty clinicians operating within hospital-based clinics. The CMO will oversee the effective coordination of CH employed primary care practices with CH specialists, and as a member of the Catholic Health executive team, will develop and implement clinical programs, clinical protocols, and a clinically integrated network across Catholic Health.


  • The CMO will partner with medical directors, hospital leadership and other system executives to establish an effective medical group culture which is patient centered, evidence based, interdisciplinary, and which continuously improves the patient experience, safety and quality while reducing expense. The CMO has a truly unique opportunity to create a lasting legacy by building a nationally recognized, multispecialty physician and provider group practice with a common culture and set of values expressed through Catholic Health’s Mission to reveal the healing love of Jesus to all.  


The Ideal Candidate:


• Demonstrated competence in managing large, multispecialty practices.

• Significant leadership, with more than 10 years of experience practicing medicine along with medical staff or administrative leadership positions.

• Medical group practice management required.

• Significant experience working with physicians, administration, and the Board of Directors of a health system.

• A history of strong teamwork, interpersonal relations, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.

• An ability to get along with diverse personalities and to handle multifaceted, long¬ term projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.

• Possession of a solid record of effective physician relations, including the ability to work with physicians on daily problem-solving and in the development of new programs and leading transformational change.

• Advanced business or related degree (MBA, MHA, MSM, MSHA) preferred.

• Board certification, or equivalent, in Surgery or Medicine with a current physician license, or eligibility for licensure, in the state of New York.
