The Opportunity:

Catholic Health, a $1.1 B health system in Buffalo, New York, announces an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished nurse executive to serve as its inaugural Executive Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer.

 

As a member of the executive leadership team, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will assume an active leadership role with Catholic Health’s governing body, senior leadership, medical staff, management and other clinical leaders in the system’s decision-making structure. Reporting directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the CNO is responsible for the strategic, operational and budgetary performance of the Nursing/Care Delivery Services service line, encompassing Nursing, Social Work, Quality, Respiratory Care, and Interpretive Services. The CNO will lead the strategic development of an integrated nursing practice across the health system, ensuring the highest levels of clinical quality and patient safety across the Acute, Ambulatory and Home and Community Care settings.  

 

In collaboration with clinical leadership and departmental administration, the CNO will set the strategic direction and ensure effective and efficient operations. This new leader will also allocate resources to promote growth and expansion of services, monitor and improve access to services and ensure compliance with all regulatory and payer requirements. The CNO will provide leadership direction to the professional development of the nursing team and collaborate with all levels of nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders. 

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • BSN and Master’s Degree required in Nursing or Hospital Administration; certification in nursing administration, advanced preferred.
  • Current registration with the New York State Education Department as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive nursing and senior management experience in healthcare required with ten (10) years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-facility, unionized healthcare organization strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading care delivery along with the continuum of care, with a preference for effectively leading large -scale ambulatory and/or continuing care clinical operations.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to establish a strong, supportive and effective partnership with union partners and Magnet/PTE.
