The Opportunity

The Department of Psychiatry offers robust integrated psychiatry and psychology services to all adult, adolescent, geriatric, and pediatric patients across the system in the areas of inpatient, outpatient, corrections, and addiction services. Fully accredited training programs at MetroHealth include a General Psychiatry Residency Training Program along with Psychology and other training programs. The Psychiatry program is popular and has expanded from 20 to 32 residents. The Chair of the Department of Psychiatry reports to the System EVP, Chief Clinical Officer and is supported by an operational dyad. Faculty appointments are awarded through Case Western University School of Medicine.


Additionally, as SVP, Behavioral Health Services, the Chair strategically leads the newly opened 112-bed free-standing behavioral health hospital on MetroHealth’s Cleveland Heights campus. The hospital supports behavioral health for adolescents, adult and geriatrics, in all areas of the continuum of care. Exciting components of this new, high-demand hospital include a dual diagnosis center for mental illness/addiction and private rooms for adult and geriatric psychiatry.  


The Ideal Candidate

The Chair of Psychiatry will have strategic oversight of the expanding Department and must be a compelling leader and a recognized educator and/or investigator whose passion for the educational, clinical, and research missions energizes the faculty, staff, and learners in a culturally competent and culturally sensitive manner. A distinguished record of academic/scholarly activity and Board Certification in Psychiatry is required.
