Chief Financial Officer
The Opportunity:
AMN is honored to partner with Swope Health in the recruitment of a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). A national executive search is underway as the current CFO plans to retire at the end of this year after 40 years with the organization. The CFO role is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished, forward-thinking, collaborative, strategic, and growth-oriented executive to join an outstanding organization and impact the future of the communities it serves.
The Position:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Swope Health will affect the overall financial performance of the organization through effective leadership and direction on all matters related to financial and strategic business planning and analysis, accounting, budgeting, reporting, risk management, investment & cash management, grants coordination, managed care contracting and coordination, billing, collections, and provider enrollment. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will contribute to the organization’s overall success through active participation and input to the strategic as well as operational direction and performance of the company. In addition, this role reports to the President and CEO of Swope Health.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field. CPA, graduate degree or related credential and education is required.
- Five (5) years of related financial experience (budgets, internal audits, forecasts and strategic financial planning) required.
- Healthcare financial experience preferred.
- 10 years of experience in management, leadership, and direct supervision required.
- Management experience at a FQHC or Critical Access Hospital is strongly preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant required.

Swope Health provides primary health care and behavioral health services throughout Greater Kansas City. We are a patient-centered medical home, nationally recognized by NCQA for our commitment to an integrated model of health care. We are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and The Joint Commission. We opened in 1969 as Model Cities Health Corporation, part of President Lyndon Johnson’s Model Cities program. Our first clinic was in the basement of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. That first year, with 20 employees, we served more than 2,000 patients. Today, Swope Health has grown to nearly $70M in revenue and providing care for more than 40,000 patients across nine locations in western Missouri and eastern Kansas. We are a Federally Qualified Health Center and Federal Tort Claims Act-deemed facility, recognized by the NCQA.
The Location:
Kansas City sits on Missouri's western edge, straddling the border with Kansas. It's known for its barbecue, jazz heritage and fountains. Downtown, the American Jazz Museum shares a building with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, with giant shuttlecocks out front, houses nearly 40,000 works of art, from ancient to contemporary collections.
