Senior Vice President, Market Solutions

 

USAble Life, an ancillary insurance provider, is seeking an experienced Senior Vice President (SVP), Market Solutions to lead the growth and profitability of the Dental and the Supplemental, Life and Disability (SLD) lines of business, including commercial, government and individual markets. Additionally, the SVP will be responsible for overseeing product strategy, product implementation, and underwriting for all products and will work cross-functionally with all key areas of the organization to ensure that customer service goals, administrative cost targets and compliance are achieved in support of the growth and profitability goals.

Reporting to the President/CEO, the SVP will manage and lead teams responsible for all products, dental networks, all underwriting, and dental actuarial services. The SVP will have four direct reporting Vice Presidents, with a total team size of 122 professionals.

 

Essential and other responsibilities/duties may include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Own and manage P&L for Dental and SLD business; manage product development and determine allowable selling, administrative, and, indirectly, overhead costs for the lines of business.
  • Develop and implement strategic vision/plan for all products.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, Partner Management, Operations, IT, Legal, HR, and Finance to ensure the needs of customers and partners are effectively addressed in support of that strategic vision.
  • Work in close coordination with Partner Management and Sales, develop and maintain strong professional business relationships with senior leaders in Partner Plans, especially those responsible for commercial and governmental markets, as well as engage in key negotiations and delivery of solutions (including pricing) on critical partner issues and opportunities.
  • Work closely with the CFO on company financial planning, budgeting, and execution.
  • Collaborate with Sales to determine relative priorities for Dental and SLD growth across states and provides key input into goal setting process.
  • Ensure leaders are developed in the responsible areas of the company, including Dental Product, Network, Actuarial, Underwriting, Clinical Operations, Dental4Health, and SLD Product and Underwriting, and Producer Compensation.

 

Education/Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree is required.
  • 20+ years in medical and/or ancillary insurance with group, individual, and Medicare advantage experience.
  • Deep understanding of dental actuarial, underwriting, product, network, and operations.
  • 10+ years’ leadership experience with P&L and/or business planning and budgeting responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated success in concurrently working multiple projects with changing priorities.
  • Product and underwriting experience in Supplemental, Life, and Disability insurance is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a leader and builder of internal teams, and one who can develop and retain top performers and as needed, attract additional top talent from outside to build the USAble Life team.
  • Familiarity with the concepts of medical/dental clinical integration.
  • Excellent track record with key stakeholder groups including investors, analysts, board members, employees, regulators, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to impact and influence decision making.
