Chief, Division of Cardiovascular Surgery and Co-Director, The Heart Institute
Leading the most experienced cardiac team in South Florida, the new surgical chief will apply a robust and proven commitment to excellence in delivery of care. With responsibility for all clinical, educational, research, and operational functioning within the division, the Chief will oversee budgeting, staff management, patient services, and other areas relevant to effective division management. The Chief will have the professional stature and academic talent to continue to attract exceptional faculty and to educate future pediatric cardiologists through its pediatric cardiology fellowship program. Nicklaus enjoys an academic affiliation with Florida International University.
The Ideal Candidate
The new surgical chief must be a strategic, innovative leader and talented surgeon whose passion for the education and clinical missions energizes the faculty, staff, and learners, focusing their efforts on a strategic vision of excellence across all mission areas.
- Clinical excellence in neonatal and infant cardiac surgery, pediatric heart transplantation, and ventricular assist devices, and adult congenital cardiac surgery with high-quality safety and clinical outcomes documentation.
- Successful record of administrative leadership fostering excellence in patient care.
- MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent.
- Current Diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and Congenital Heart Surgery sub-specialty certification.
