Summary

Hebrew SeniorLife has exclusively retained AMN Healthcare to lead a national search to recruit the Chief Compliance Officer. A newly created position and exceptional opportunity for a knowledgeable compliance executive to join a prestigious, mission driven organization that is committed to redefining the experience of aging.

Hebrew SeniorLife (HSL), an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, is a unique and comprehensive system of senior living and healthcare services care across multiple campuses. Dedicated to rethinking, researching, and redefining aging, HSL serves thousands of seniors in the Greater Boston area and is home to the only long-term chronic care teaching hospital in the United States. HSL also conducts influential research into aging at the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research, a renowned research center that has discovered innovative treatments and proven best practices to help all seniors live longer, be more active, and have more fulfilling lives. The Marcus Institute has a portfolio of more than $85 million, making it the largest gerontological research facility in the U.S. in a clinical setting. Additionally, there are more than 1,000 students rotating at HSL each year.

One of the most unique aspects of HSL is that it serves people of all income levels across many distinctive sites and senior service business lines. Each component of the HSL system is designed to help keep seniors independent in the community for as long as possible, and when necessary to provide the best quality long-term care.

The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will be responsible for developing and overseeing HSL’s enterprise-wide compliance program and ensuring sound and effective compliance operations. Reporting directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the CCO will oversee policy and procedure development, employee training, and internal auditing activities. The CCO will also serve as a liaison to the HSL Board and its committees regarding all compliance matters, such as the Audit/Compliance Committee. Additionally, the CCO will oversee appropriate internal and external compliance resources as necessary.

The CCO will foster a culture of compliance across HSL and to create an environment in which compliance is a top priority. The CCO will monitor changes in the healthcare and senior living industries and legislation to ensure compliance policies are up to date.

The CCO will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required. Graduate degree in accounting/auditing, business administration, law (JD), or operations management preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of compliance and/or auditing experience in healthcare. Experience in compliance or audit for at least one of these additional areas strongly preferred: sponsored awards; research; non-profit finance; healthcare reimbursement through governmental sources (i.e., Medicare and Medicaid); subsidized housing.
  • Experience overseeing regulatory and legal compliance, including day to day leadership of auditing, monitoring and regulatory education efforts.
