Reporting to the Academic and Regional President for SSM Health – St. Louis, the President, St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis is responsible for the growth, operations, and financial results for the Ministry. The President establishes quality health services in accordance with the philosophy and mission of the organization and is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the facility. The President directs operational and clinical integration of services to achieve exceptional outcomes; develops short- and long-term goals and plans ensuring alignment with broader organization priorities; utilizes metrics and organizational vision to lead and direct practice and standards for assigned area; and develops and implements standards and guidelines across the organization.

The President is a key member of the senior leadership team for the St. Louis Region and leads the Campus Executive Team (CET) for St. Joseph – Lake Saint Louis. The President participates in both strategic and operational decision making to accomplish the key priorities and objectives of the Ministry. This executive will represent SSM Health and the St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis Ministry with local, state-wide, and national legislative, regulatory, business and community groups. The President will also work collaboratively with and support Catholic directives.


Located in St. Charles County, St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis is a full service, acute care community hospital with 216 beds providing all services except Neurosurgery and Cardiac Surgery. The Emergency and Trauma Services include a Primary Stroke Center, Level 3 Trauma Center and Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Emergency Services. This Ministry also has 30 additional Acute Rehabilitation Beds as a Hospital in Hospital operated by SSM Select Rehabilitation Network. The Ministry also has non-ICU pediatric services. St. Joseph – Lake Saint Louis has $200M in net operating revenue and a consistent positive net operating margin. The Ministry serves people in Western St. Charles, Lincoln, Warren, Montgomery, and Pike Counties – Combined primary service area and secondary service areas is equal to 500K and growing.

Candidates will have a minimum of ten years of experience within a health care institution; a minimum of five years’ experience in a senior leadership role is required. A Master’s degree or equivalent clinical degree is required in health or hospital administration, business administration or a related management or clinical field. The successful candidate will demonstrate success within a multi-hospital health system and the ability to be successful in a matrixed environment and will currently be a President/Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, SVP/VP of Operations, or hold another senior executive-level position in a multi-hospital health system environment with a regional and/or national reputation for excellence. Regardless of current and prior positions held, the successful candidate must possess outstanding and hands-on operational and financial management skills/experience.
