Sheltering Arms Rehabilitation Hospitals Enlists B.E. Smith in Search for Chief Executive Officer

An exciting opportunity to oversee a newly formed joint venture between two of Virginia’s top healthcare providers as Chief Executive Officer.

The Chief Executive Officer will set the vision and direction for the 114-bed, freestanding inpatient rehabilitation facility, which is set to open in spring 2020. This position will oversee operations for the institute and will work on consolidating three inpatient sites into a single hospital. They will also develop a leadership team committed to the mission, vision, values, and employee and physician engagement. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of senior leadership experience, business and financial acumen, and the ability to establish trust and credibility through open and transparent communication.

A master’s degree and more than 10 years of healthcare leadership are required. Prior experience in a rehabilitation hospital or an academic medical center is strongly preferred.

In May 2018, Sheltering Arms Rehabilitation Hospitals and VCU Health broke ground on the Sheltering Arms Rehab Institute, the product of a joint venture to provide a state-of-the-art, inpatient rehabilitation services to residents of Virginia and surrounding communities. The 212,000-square foot institute is slated to open in 2020, featuring 114 private rooms for patients suffering strokes, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, neurological disorders and those seeking general rehabilitative care. 

The $95 million facility will be located in Goochland County near the Greater Richmond Area, operating under a 55/45 ownership agreement between Sheltering Arms and VCU Health, respectively.
