Vassar Brothers and Las Palmas Medical Centers Each Enlist B.E. Smith for New Directors of Quality

Hospitals in New York and Texas are each searching for a Quality Director to carry out process improvement and quality initiatives.

From the Northeast to the South, B.E. Smith has recently partnered with two hospitals, Vassar Brothers Medical Center (VBMC) and Las Palmas Medical Center (LPMC), in search of a Director of Quality. This gives quality leaders two great opportunities to apply. 

Vassar Brothers Medical Center

The Director of Quality will serve as a highly visible, energetic champion of quality and performance improvement within VBMC. This important role is considered part of senior leadership and works closely with all staff to continuously improve the safety, effectiveness, efficiency, patient-centeredness, equity, and timeliness of healthcare delivery to all patients. 

Under direction from the Corporate AVP of Quality and Performance Improvement, develops, directs, and implements performance improvement and quality management. This leader will also lead the organization to achieve outstanding performance on key nationally standardized metrics of quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Nursing. 
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in a progressive leadership role in quality improvement and/or patient safety in a healthcare setting. 
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma process improvement. 
  • Master’s degree in Business, Nursing, Health Administration or related discipline preferred. 
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality designation preferred.

VBMC has established expertise in cardiac services, cancer care and women and children’s health services. As a renowned regional medical center, VBMC houses the area’s first and only cardiothoracic surgery program between Westchester and Albany and the only Level III NICU in the region for premature and critically ill infants.

Las Palmas Medical Center

The Director of Quality manages the facility quality and performance improvement programs, including outcomes analysis. The ideal leader will promote performance improvement staff education and development. 
This leader will be in charge of implementing of all aspects of LPMC Quality Management Program including identification of opportunities to improve patient care, planning and facilitating interventions, evaluation and sustaining of success, and more.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Nursing, Quality Management, or Healthcare Administration; or at least 10 years’ experience in healthcare quality and patient safety.
  • Master’s degree in healthcare, nursing, quality or business preferred.
  • Current licensure in State of Texas, Certification in Healthcare Quality, and/or advanced training in Quality preferred.
  • 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Background in Health Information Management, Case Management, or Quality Management.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in strategic planning, performance improvement in an organization to include implementing quality initiatives.
